MBOA Drill is not a title I just randomly picked because it sounds hard. It's a message. It's a direction. It's something that was formed with intention, spiritually, culturally, and strategically.
Before you listen to the project, it's important for you to understand the reason, and the story behind it's creation, because trust me, the sound will hit different when you are fully aware of the weight it carries. Let's go.
"MBOA" - More Than Home
Where I'm from, MBOA means home. It's the land. It's the culture. It's the people. It's the environment that shapes you before the world ever hears you. MBOA, is a Cameroonian term for "home", "country", or "native land", used to represent Cameroon, originating from the Duala language.
But for me, it goes deeper than geography.
MBOA is territory. Not just a physical territory-but also spiritual territory. It's a place filled with talented people, culture, struggles, stories, confusion, potential... all of it. It's a place heavily concentrated with raw untapped potential, but a lot of people don't seem to realize it.
So when I say MBOA, I'm not just repping where I'm from. I'm acknowledging responsibility.
"DRILL" - Pressure With Purpose:
Drill as a sound is known for its intensity. It is raw. It hits you over and over again until it sinks in.
I did not just pick Drill as the genre to carry this message for any reason-l understood its nature.
Just like a drill(the actual tool itself) that breaks through resistance.
It doesn't tap. It penetrates.
That's what Mboa Drill is meant to do. Not just entertain-but break through layers; mindsets, cultures, strongholds, noise, etc. The kind of sound that doesn't sit in the background-it confronts you.
There's also discipline in it. Precision and Timing. That's the mindset behind Mboa Drill.
Consistency. Nothing random.

MBOA DRILL is a sound designed to penetrate territories and transcend cultures.
This Drill has nothing to do with what's happening in the UK or the US. This is not borrowed identity. This is not imitation, far from that.
This is translation. Blending French/English, Pidgin, Camfranglais, and native dialects like Kom, altogether-harmoniously into one sound. Mboa Drill is sound that purposefully reflects the stories, the realities, the creativity, and the potential of our people.
It's not mainstream yet, but don't undermine it.
It's rooted, with unimited potential.

I'm not just an artist. I'm a Kingdom artist, and that changes the assignment.

So I don't take what I'm doing lightly. This is serious business.

This is about releasing something authentic that people can relate with, regardless of their culture or origin.

This is for the people of MBOA(Cameroon), particularly the youth, who believe there's much more to them and their society, even if they can't always explain or see it.

Timing matters. It took me more than 25 years of preparation and research to finally release this project. Like they say "Good things take time".
I had to tap in from my personal experiences, life lessons, my culture, my environment and from other people, which made it possible for me to be able to bring this masterpiece together.
There's a gap right now-especially in our society. A gap between culture, authenticity, and truth.
Between sound and substance. Between impact and direction.
MBOA Drill sits right in that gap. Society needs Mboa Drill now more than ever before.

This project came from conviction: From thinking deeply about where I'm from(my roots, my culture), what I represent, and what I'm called to do with my God given skills and my platform.
