The beauty of this Art Work lies in the unmissable harmony of certain key elements:
- The Toghu (or Atoghu) neckpiece
- The "MBOA"-spelt out using Iconic Cameroonian buildings/monuments, and in the colours of the Cameroon flag
- The stunning intense reddish ambiance of the whole piece, giving it an intense engrossing feel
If you wear deaf and could only see, you could still feel the music of MBOA Drill, just from a glance of the artwork.
And that is exactly what the Cover Art was intended to do. Make you feel the music before even pressing Play.
Originating from the North West Region, precisely from Kom. I had to represent my ancestors with that prestigious neckpiece you see around my neck on the cover art.
It is Called the Atoghu or toghu.
It has transitioned from a royal, regional atttire into a key national symbol and is now recognized as Cameroon's "international traditional attire".
Like a scepter is to a King, so is the Atoghu to me.
That muffler is a unique piece, that was designed for me when I was deep in the creation of this project. I had to go back to my roots-and tap in from my ancestors.
That is why MBOA DRILL is more than just music. It is an experience. A sound that transcends generations.
Styling and Design of the EP Title
When reading the title, you might have to look a little closely to see that, the letters M, B, O and A, which spell out the word "MBOA", are actually depicted by some key iconic Cameroonian monuments and buildings:
- "M" (in green colour), is depicted by the Yaounde's star building which serves as the official office of the Prime Minister
- "B"(in red colour), is depicted by the 'immeuble de l'emergence", a landmark that hosts different ministerial departments
- "O" (in yellow colour), is depicted. by the Buea Reunification Monument, a significant tourist and historical site located at the foot of Mount Cameroon.
- "A" (in green colour), is depicted by the Cameroon's Reunification Monument in Yaounde
The first three letters are colored in Green, Red, and Yellow colors respectively, representing the colours of the Cameroon Flag
These iconic monuments are very familiar to all the inhabitants of MBOA, giving their strategic locations and importance in the history of MBOA (Cameroon).
And since MBOA Drill is a project created specifically to reflect the glory of this great nation, I had to make sure that MBOA was represented not only in the sound, but also in the artwork.
The Mood of the whole Piece
The dominant Bright red color of the entire cover is loud, intense, and impossible to ignore. Bright reds bring heat and tension, while the neon greens and yellows of the letters in the title add a wild, almost chaotic energy. It feels raw and alive—like the streets, like the music.
The elements all together express a harmonic chaotic atmosphere, with TheboyKAF in the middle as the central figure looking calm and in control. That contrast is the vibe: pressure all around, but strength at the center.
It’s not meant to feel comfortable—it’s meant to hit you.
