"MBOA", is a Cameroonian term for home or "country" frequently used to represent Cameroon. Cameroon is called "Africa in Miniature", because it represents a compact, diverse microcosm of the entire African continent. It features over 250 ethnic groups, two official languages (French/English) and varied climates.
In simpler terms, visiting cameroon is like visiting Africa all in one place. The point of this description is to highlight how rich and diverse cameroon is in terms of culture(languages, music, etc). Cameroonian music is a diverse blend of traditional rhythms and modern genres, with Makossa(popularized in Douala) and Bikutsi (from the Centre region) being the most prominent styles along with Mboko which is a subgenre of cameroonian hip-hop, often reffered to as Mboko Rap. MBOA DRILL is a new school subgenre of drill music distinct in how it reflects the realities, ambitions, and creativity of Cameroonian youth. TheboyKAF's EP entitled Mboa Drill is a byword of this subgenre.
The pecularity of this project lies in the blending of French/English, pidgin, camfranglais, and some local dialects like Kom; Promoting concepts of belief, pride, hardwork and motivation. The lyrical content of the project tends to be assertive and confident, urging the listener to take pride in himself being aware of his worth, in other to become his/her full potential, a mindset you need to have to thrive in an environment as challenging as Cameroon.
